PICTOPLASMA RESIDENCY 2012: MELISSA GODOY NIETO
12 - 15 April 2012
CREATURAS DEL 2012
Now already for the third year, General Public and Pictoplasma are glad to present the Pictoplasma artist in residency. This year, the jury has chosen out of more than 130 proposals the artist:
MELISSA GODOY NIETO:
Fresh out of college, Pictoplasma’s 2012 artist-in-residence Mexican-born Melissa Godoy Nieto is already starting to make her mark as an industrial designer. In Berlin, she presents her experimental murals that refuse to stay flat on the walls, encroaching on the space in a combination of paint, hand-dyed yarn, push pins, and spray-paint cans to playfully reenact their own creation. Inspired by Mesoamerican imagery, temples and Mexican textiles, the installation conjures up ancestral creatures and the nostalgic spirit of folklore.
The exhibition takes place in the framework of the Pictoplasma Character Walk:
Once more you are invited to discover exciting exhibitions and art happenings throughout Berlin!
Expect a vast accompanying program of partnering exhibitions, group-shows, installations, performances, live-concerts, parties and characters galore.
All character walk exhibitions are open from the 11th to the 15th of April, 12-20h, inviting a wide, art and pop culture interested audience.
